A Regalwoods Christmas

Since everyone else is doing it, here are a few pictures of Brian and my house decorated for Christmas. - These pictures were taking soon after we decorated and we have added a few things here and there not shown. We did a bit less this year since we knew we would not be hosting any parties, and with the exception to the Kistlers who came over last Friday, no one has even come over to see it. I regret not putting out our Snow Village this year. But Brian and I have loved having the decorations we did put up to enjoy since the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Our tree- its leaning a little to the right. Gives it character I think ;-)

This is a small Willow Tree Nativity set that I have in our living room bookcase.

My Fontanini Nativity Set. I put magnolia leaves around it last year- sadly never got to it this year.

Mom started this set for me a few years ago and I adore it. Her and Jim give us a new piece every year. She has one and growing up this was my favorite Christmas decoration. We had this tradition that every time Matt or I did something good, big or small, we got to put a piece of straw in the manger. Lets just say this appealed to me more so than Matt. I would run around the house unloading the dishwasher, setting the table for dinner, folding clothes, completing my homework right when we got home- anything to get a piece (yes it was one single piece) of straw to put in the manger.

We are big on ornaments, pretty much have to be when your family owned several Hallmark stores. In 1984, Hallmark began a Dollhouse ornament series and my parents started it for me, giving me one every year. To this day I still get one each year. I have so many now, that instead of putting them on a tree, I like to make a small village out of them. Here they are in our china cabinet.

Ornaments:
My first ornament

Gift from Elizabeth and Kurt the weekend we got engaged, Holden Beach, NC

First Christmas together ornament from Mom and Jim

Our Girls Secret Santa Gift Swap last year

Keepsake from Brian's birthday trip last year to Ashville, NC- Biltmore Estate

A few other decorations

I already have ideas for next year. I love Christmas and all things that accompany the season. I am blasting Christmas music and about to get me a cup of Hot Chocolate. Brian and I are exchanging gifts in the morning. I am so excited!

Merry Christmas!

  1. I love the dollhouse village. And the story about the straw sounds exactly like something I'd do too. Thanks for sharing - cute story.
