Dekalb Farmers Market

On Saturday Brian and I visited the Dekalb County Farmers Market for the first time. Each weekend we are in town, which seems to be never, we talk about going. But one thing around the house leads to the next and we never seem to be able to make it. This week was different. I really did not have any expectations, just thinking we would pick up a few fruits and vegetables.I even had a grocery list prepared for later in the day. To my pleasant surprise we racked up and only lacked Brian's Reese Puffs cereal. They did not allow any photography in the market so I have zero pictures to share of our shopping experience. But we walked out with smiles on our faces and a buggie full.
Once we got home I quickly took everything out of the bags to see what all we got. We have breads (three kinds), fruits (bananas, pear, grapes, oranges), veggies (tomatoes, okra, sweet potatoes, spinach), cereal and granola, nuts, dried fruit and seeds, milk, greek yogurt, sea scallops, fresh salsa, wine and beer. Whooo. I know I left out a few things.
For lunch it only seemed appropriate to make yummy sandwiches from all our fresh produce and breads.

Brian's: Turkey on Kaiser Roll, with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, and apple butter (purchased last weekend in Sky Valley @ the flee market)

Mine: Turkey on Whole Wheat Multigrain with lettuce, tomato, mozzarella cheese, onion and hummus.

It was so much fun! I am so excited to be trying all our new fresh and local purchases this week.
