Our First Child, Sophie

I do not know if it was pure spontaneity or sheer fate but 2 weeks ago Brian and I, without much if any planning, got a puppy! Meet little Miss Sophie.

She is a Maltese Yorkie mix and is 9 weeks old yesterday. Brian and I had talked about if we would ever get a pet a couple months ago. And we even researched certain dog types that would fit our needs and lifestyle, but that is really as far as it went. We never decided on anything and certainly did not determine a time. Brian actually liked this dog, a Bergamasco.

A dog with dreadlocks, no thank you. But two Fridays ago Brian was online and came across an ad for a precious puppy with a pink bow, emailed it to me and I instantly fell in love. We were going to be out of town that Saturday, returning on Sunday and knew she might not still be available when we got our opportunity to meet her. But luckily she was and that was that. We were not leaving without here. With puppy in lap, we headed straight to PetsMart to get puppy food, bed, crate, piddle pads, and the like. Two weeks later, she rules the house. She even has "daddy" wrapped around her little finger paw.

The sweet kisses and games of "get the cow" has come with serious challenges. Early morning wake-up calls and the need to come straight home after work has been a big adjustment for us. But as soon as you see this face, it makes it all worth it.
