My Wisdom Teeth Surgery

I had my wisdom teeth extracted this past Friday. And the number one question I would get when I was telling people about my upcoming procedure was, "How old are you? Aren't you suppose to get those out when you are in high school?" Well I guess most people do but for me I was never told "Go get yours out." I have been asking my dentist about this for the past 2 years on her thoughts and she has mostly expressed that if they are not giving me trouble then I might not need to. I have not wanted to wait just because I could if it was inevitable I was going to have to have them out eventually. So I took matters into my own hands and saw a oral surgeon to give me his opinion. It really wasn't what I wanted to hear but he said I was going to have problems with them one day and he advised I go ahead and get them out.

As most of you know I HATE all things pain related. I am the biggest baby when it comes to needles. Even now when I get a simple shot or blood draw at the doctor I 9 times out of 10 pass out. The thought of being put under kind of freaked me out- I have never done that before. But when I thought about it I knew I needed to go ahead and do this now. Why wait 5 more years. In 5 years I will, God willing, have a family and will not want to go through any period of time of not being capable of providing care to them if at all avoidable.

I was expecting and fearing the worst, and dreading it every day. God totally comforted me and on Friday I was just ready to be done with it.

Here is a picture of me Friday morning before heading out.

I cannot believe I am even putting this up here, but here I am only a few hours later after returning home.

This is pretty much how I stayed all day Friday and Saturday- 20 minutes with my head wrapped in my ice packs and 20 minutes off. Head elevated. I was very fortunate and did not have much pain. I was uncomfortable at times- I am sure Brian was too looking at that face for 2 days- but never really in a lot of pain. And luckily had little swelling and no bruising.

Here is a picture I just snapped of myself at the office. See you can't really tell.

Sorry taking a picture of yourself with your phone is very difficult.

THANK YOU to everyone who called, texted, facebooked me during my little surgery. Your encouragement was so sweet and very much appreciated.
