With Easter comes linen pants, more hours of sunlight, dinners on the patio, seersucker, and azaleas. Welcome Sweet Easter. We have missed you. This year Brian and I spent the weekend in Milledgeville and Macon, relaxing and getting some quality time with the family.
We have been going to Macon's Sunrise Easter Morning Service on Colman Hill for several years now. Jim grew up as a boy going to this with his parents and brother. This was the 96th year. There is something so breathtaking about watching the sun come up, as we hear about the Resurrected Lord.
With the alarm going off bright (it was actually still dark outside) and early at 5:30, we quickly got ready and grabbed a cup of coffee to go - Lent is over! I finally got a cup of coffee and it was amazing!
Kathleen and Robin were with us this year. Kathleen is my mom's best friend from college and they have always been a part of our family, coming to every birthday party, piano recital, graduation, and such. Kathleen was actually a huge help with everything during our wedding. My bridesmaids have her to thank for their gift.
Another tradition after the sunrise service is breakfast at Waffle House. Believe it or not, I actually look forward to it.
This is Brian's breakfast plus an unpictured waffle. My breakfast on the other-hand looked a different. I ordered 2 eggs (hold the yolk) with toast (dry, aka no butter) with a side of sliced tomatoes. It was delicious! Who says you can't eat healthy at the WH.
Dying eggs were on the agenda of us ladies. After prepping all our supplies we got to work. Our completed eggs were lovely, ... sort of.
Of course we watched a lot of the Masters and cheered Bubba to the win. Sophie loved all the attention and was sad we loaded up to head back to Atlanta.
Davis would be jealous to hear that y'all went to the sunrise service! He told me on Easter, that he has always wanted to go to a sunrise service!
