People's Health 5K Race

This pass weekend Brian and I, as well as Dave McMillian, ran in the People's Health Awareness 5K. To be honest I do not know anything about this Philanthropy and did not seek to increase my knowledge. After running in the Peachtree Road Race on July 4th, Brian got the desire to also run in a race. Therefore I just searched for a race in or around our area that was occurring on a weekend we had available. Having to ride Marta and catch a shuttle to the start, we of course arrived with plenty of time to kill.

The course started @ Home Park, north of Georgia Tech and ended in Piedmont Park by Park Tavern.

Brian did awesome! During training he had worked up to 2.8 miles and ran the entire 3.1 miles of the race. I wish I could say this sparked a new love for Brian and that he is going to be wanting to sign up for more races, but I am not quite sure if that is the case.

Either way I could not be more proud of his dedication and hard work. We did it!!

Out of 144 runners here is where we finished.

Among the runners was actress Mena Suvari who placed first in her age group! I did not even know she was there running until after the race. I do recall seeing her now but with a hat, sunglasses, and hair pulled back in a braid, I was clueless at the time.
