Our Luxembourg/Paris Adventure- Part 1

Brian and I went to Europe! This was both of our first trips so we did as much as humanly possible in our 8 day European Vacation to visit Brian's sister Melanie and her husband Alex. We left early 2 Wednesday's ago and arrived in Brussels, Belgium Thursday morning. Melanie was a sweetheart and drove the 2 hours from Luxembourg to pick us up from the airport. Seeing her smiling face was priceless.

We had a day in Luxembourg before our Paris adventure and then returned for two more.

Melanie and I had to sample a Macaroon as a pre-lunch appetizer on Day 1

The Luxembourg Palace is only open for tours once a year and it just so happen to fall during the time we were there visiting.

The Grund area. We went exploring on foot one day ...

and rented bikes another and rode to the bottom...

but unfortunately for us, we discovered they did not have a bike return at the bottom. And the elevator was also broken that day.

We drove to the vineyards of Bernard Massard for a Champagne tasting, but actually the French to do allow you to call it champagne unless it was made in Champagne, France.

On the way out we decided to really get the full effect and drove up the side of a hill in the middle of the vineyard for this view

It was Luxembourg's 671st Annual Schueberfouer, aka fair

On Tuesday, Brian, Melanie and I went via train to Trier, Germany...

for some lunch and some shopping

I have to say I LOVE Luxembourg. It is a larger town but with a small town feel, similar to that of Nashville, in my opinion, which is where Melanie and Alex were living. Melanie is so adventurous, exploring nearby towns during the day, experiencing what Luxembourg has to offer to the fullest. And Alex is very pleased with his position at Caterpillar.

I will have another post on our Paris trip soon.
