Saturday night I was home alone. Brian was at the Falcons game so I had TV control of the remote - that never happens. Even if we are going to watch the same thing, he has to have possession of it. One of the things you just learn to adjust to with marriage I guess.
I had already watched the Sex and the City Movie #2 so the girly choices continued as I noticed the Miss America Pageant was on. Every girl secretly loves watching the girls get all glamoured up, performing their talents and "such as". haha. Sorry, if you don't get the humor here, in 2007 poor Miss South Carolina bombed her question. You can watch the YouTube video here.
She was given a really hard time through the media but has gained more attention and celebrity status through the mess up than she would have if she would have answered the question with a bit more eloquence.
I came in towards the end during the talent competition. To be honest, I was a little disappointed in their selections. One girl, Miss Arkansas, performed a ventriloquist act where she sang along with 2 puppets.
Was this talented? Yes, I would agree. But somewhat strange as well.
Do you remember the Pop-Up Videos they use to show on VH1? Well, during the girl's performances, they did this. Random facts, or info nuggets as they are officially called, about each girl would pop up every so often. It was highly entertaining in my book. I think everyone should bring back the pop-up videos.
I actually did not see the swim suit competition, but I saw the highlights. Don't you kind of just want to be her?
Of course I have to show my state. Here is Miss Georgia from Marietta.
The winner of the 2011 Miss America Pageant is Miss Nebraska - Teresa Scanlan. I was smiling watching her get crowded- she was so excited.
Wish I had known this was on! I would have DVRed it!
ReplyDeleteI watched the whole thing. I love watching pageants. Each year my mom and I text each other back and forth about it but this year she was in Atlanta. It was fun to watch together. I laughed a lot!
ReplyDeleteEmily- that is so fun! I am sad I missed the beginning but glad I picked up where I did. Include me in yalls text next year.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this Meghan! The game was on at our house- I can't believe I missed it!
