The fat lady must have sung in Georgia somewhere because this rarely happens. My mom is not a fan of the big city life so convincing her to come up for a visit is like pulling teeth. However, in her defense, she and Jim stay so busy- busier than Brian and I most of the time- and with her working so much, there are not many opportunities to come visit her favorite child (haha Matt!)
They arrived late Saturday morning to check out all the work and progress we have made on our house, especially the kitchen. I think the last time they were here was early Dec 2009, so we had made quite a few changes. After visiting for awhile we rode to Decatur to meet up with Jay, Stephanie and little Brynn for lunch at Farmstead 303. It is located in the Historic Train Depot and is known for its farm to table cuisine. Brian and I have been wanting to try out this restaurant so we were thrilled with the suggestion.
There were several things on the menu that I wanted. Lucky for me, all the items I was debating were ordered so I got to sample them all.Brian got the Grilled Salmon Club
Mom got the Southern Pecan Chicken Salad
And I got a veggie plate
For burger lovers, I thought the Pimento Cheese Burger sounded interesting.
While we were waiting on the food, Jim asked Brynn some of her trivia questions. But he had forgotten his glasses in the car so he used this trick to help him read the cards. Whatever works I guess.
The whole group
After filling our tummies, Mom and I went to the mall in search of shoes. Success!
Mom got theseAnd I got (ordered) theseAnd also found some Yoforia.
The boys had different plans than shopping for their afternoon. They went biking on the Silver Comet Trail. Jay is a big biker and assisted Jim and Brian with some appropriate gear for their outing. Check out these hot guys.I can't tell if they were too comfortable or not but they sure do look the part.
It was such a fun Saturday and we really enjoyed getting to visit with everyone. Thanks for coming to Atlanta Mom and Jim.
Sounds like y'all had a lot of fun! It is great having visitors (especially when it's your mom!)
